Community Impact
The Church and Society Committee is the Mission and Outreach arm of our church family. We try to carry out Christ's message of Matthew 25:40: "Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these, you have done it unto me." We encourage everyone to become involved in some way in this ministry.Specifically Church and Society is responsible for overseeing many of the mission activities of the church. We give financial support to the General Mission of the PCUSA as well as many local projects. We support special offerings: One Great House of Sharing, Pentecost Offering, Peacemaking Offering, and the Christmas Joy Offerings.
We support the White Bear Lake Emergency Food Shelf with donations of food and money. Bread for the World: Each year we encourage our congregation to write letters to their Senators and Representatives to enact legislation to address the root causes of hunger worldwide. Habitat for Humanity: Each year a team works and prepares food for work on local Habitat projects. We support the St. Paul Area Council of Churches, the mission church Familia de Fe through New Church Development, and Puentes de Cristo Mexican Border Ministry. In 2009 and 2010 volunteers from our church traveled to work with the St. Bernard Project in New Orleans for a week rebuilding houses in the Katrina damaged area.
We support local mission projects: Greater MN Crisis Nursery, the Tubman Family Alliance, HCMC-HIV, St. Mary's Health Clnics, Marie Sandvic Center, and MICAH (Metropolitan Iterfaith Council on Affordable Housing). We support ISAIAH, an ecumenical social justice organization, Relay for Life each year, and The Gathering which is a special ministry twice a month for participants with memory loss and their caregivers that our church supports with space, volunteers, and a monetary commitment.
Through these many important and varied ministries, we ask and pray for your support and participation with us, so together we will continue to answer Christ's call.
