When and Where?

Staff

Neil Craigan
Pastor

I was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland where my parents and brother still live. I have a sister who now lives in England.

I was raised in the Presbyterian church but attended only because that was what my parents expected of me at the time. After going through a rebellious period as a teenager I was wooed into a relationship with Jesus in 1986. It was immediately after this time that I knew I was being called into ordained ministry.

After visiting Minnesota in 1987, I always knew I would return some day and in 1991 I served an internship at Hope Church. In 1992 I put my seminary studies on hold so I could train with Tentmaker's Youth Ministry and served the next three years at Anoka United Methodist Church.

In 1995 I married Jenny and my life was firmly established in the United States. After graduating seminary in 1997 our first daughter was born, number two would come in 1998 and number three in 2005. Following seminary I spent the next three years selling phone service with US West before accepting a call to pastor Randolph Heights Presbyterian in St. Paul, MN.

After four years at Randolph Heights I accepted a call to move to Centreville, VA to serve as their Associate Pastor. My major focus at Centreville was on Adult Discipleship and Mission.

As of May, 2009 I have been serving as the pastor of First Presbyterian Church, White Bear Lake, MN.

Alyssa Boswell
Children's Ministries Director

I grew up in a small town in central Minnesota with two brothers and a sister. My family was a very active part of a small Baptist church. In 1999 I attended Bethel University and studied Spanish and Elementary Education. It was there that I met my husband Paul. We graduated in May of 2003 and were married that Christmas. I taught Spanish for 3 years while on the side, volunteering in Children’s Ministries at our church. Eventually, this turned into a part time position as the Director.

When I started in the Director role, I had a hunch pretty soon that this was something I would really enjoy. It combined by interests in teaching, building relationships with children and their families, leadership, and faith formation for people of all ages. In the back of my mind, I had always desired to go to seminary and being on staff at a church made it quickly feel like a necessity. I recently graduated from Bethel Seminary with a Masters of Christian Education.

Since I started my degree in Christian Educaiton, I have worked as the Children’s Ministries Director of two churches, added a baby boy to our family (in July of 2008), moved to Pennsylvania, worked as the Youth Director’s Assistant, and interned with the Children’s Director of a large church, and moved back home to MN, and added another baby boy to our family (in June of 2010).  It has been a busy two years! I am excited to serve as the Children’s Ministries Director at First Presbyterian Church.
