Presbytery

Every local Presbyterian church is a part of a regional governing body called a presbytery, which consists of all the ministers in the region and lay commissioners from each church.

First Presbyterian is a member of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area (PTCA), whose offices are in Minneapolis.  This presbytery consists of 72 churches in the geographical area north to Pine City, west to Buffalo, south to Albert Lea and the Iowa border, and east into Wisconsin.

The PTCA meets 6 times a year for worship, business and fellowship.  It oversees the clergy in its bounds, sponsors leadership development in the local churches and initiates mission opportunities locally and globally.
