I was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland where my parents and brother still live. I have a sister who now lives in England.
I was raised in the Presbyterian church but attended only because that was what my parents expected of me at the time. After going through a rebellious period as a teenager I was wooed into a relationship with Jesus in 1986. It was immediately after this time that I knew I was being called into ordained ministry.
After visiting Minnesota in 1987, I always knew I would return some day and in 1991 I served an internship at Hope Church. In 1992 I put my seminary studies on hold so I could train with Tentmaker's Youth Ministry and served the next three years at Anoka United Methodist Church.
In 1995 I married Jenny and my life was firmly established in the United States. After graduating seminary in 1997 our first daughter was born, number two would come in 1998 and number three in 2005. Following seminary I spent the next three years selling phone service with US West before accepting a call to pastor Randolph Heights Presbyterian in St. Paul, MN.
After four years at Randolph Heights I accepted a call to move to Centreville, VA to serve as their Associate Pastor. My major focus at Centreville was on Adult Discipleship and Mission.
As of May, 2009 I have been serving as the pastor of First Presbyterian Church, White Bear Lake, MN.
1991 B.Sc (hons), Sociology, University of Ulster, Jordanstown
1997 M.Div, Luther Seminary, St Paul, MN
2001 Started D.Min (not yet completed) Bethel Seminary, St Paul, MN

Children's Ministries Director
When I started in the Director role, I had a hunch pretty soon that this was something I would really enjoy. It combined by interests in teaching, building relationships with children and their families, leadership, and faith formation for people of all ages. In the back of my mind, I had always desired to go to seminary and being on staff at a church made it quickly feel like a necessity. I recently graduated from Bethel Seminary with a Masters of Christian Education.
Since I started my degree in Christian Education, I have worked as the Children’s Ministries Director of two churches, added a baby boy to our family (in July of 2008), moved to Pennsylvania, worked as the Youth Director’s Assistant, and interned with the Children’s Director of a large church, and moved back home to MN, and added another baby boy to our family (in June of 2010). It has been a busy two years! I am excited to serve as the Children’s Ministries Director at First Presbyterian Church.

Youth Ministries Director
I am very excited to join First Presbyterian Church as the Youth Director. I have spent many years in the ministry mostly as a Christian hard rock singer. I am a student at Bethel University finishing my B.A. in Christian Ministries. I plan on attending Seminary at Bethel for a Masters in Divinity shortly after completing my B.A. I have been married for almost 6 years to my wonderful husband, Jake.
Collectively, in my past experience I have done youth ministry for 13 years in a variety of ways. For the past 8 years my husband and I have been in two Christian hard rock bands working with youth, churches, and music venues bringing the love and acceptance of God. Before my rock band days I was a worship leader for 7 years for a youth group, an international missions leader for 3 years, a youth drama leader for 2 years, and a youth teacher and mentor for 5 years. Many of my roles have overlapped and were done simultaneously. You can say I love to stay busy. In my professional experience I come from the nonprofit world of the YMCA here in the Twin Cities. My last 5 years were spent as an Aquatics manager overseeing multiple swimming pools and programs. I managed 60 staff from the ages of 15-75 years of age. I have a strong background in creating curriculum, programs, and training people of many ages.
I would like to cultivate an environment to grow and seek Christ together. In terms of curriculum my goal is life application; How to apply Biblical principles to our lives and model ourselves after Christ. The end goal is become passionate servants of a loving and accepting God. I hope to encourage and environment that appreciates and values the uniqueness of others by seeing people through God’s eyes, as having unsurpassable worth.
